The Morwenstow Society |
"To preserve the past and present for the future"
The Morwenstow Society was formed in 1981 after an appeal from Mr J Walter in the Parish Magazine, "Hamlets". He warned that if the parish could not find a way to preserve its history then it would soon be too late.
The inaugural meeting took place at St Mark's School on Wednesday 23rd September 1981 when it was decided to hold meetings on the first Friday of each month (since changed to the third Friday of each month).
We have an annual program of talks held in a convivial atmosphere in one of the oldest pubs in England, the Bush Inn, Morwenstow, Cornwall.
We also organise visits to local places of historic interest or natural beauty.
We collect current items of interest for safe keeping in our archives as well as giving a home to older items donated to us.
