The most northerly parish in Cornwall is set high on the cliffs away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Here time seems almost to stand still.
Many of the old manor house still exist together with the more humble thatched worker's cottages.
Robert Stephen Hawker was a famed vicar at the parish church of St Morwenna and St John. Before his encumbency, John Wesley's followers had established themselves. There still exist two Methodist Chapels and four others are converted to dwellings.
There are four burial grounds in the parish.
All of them have had their MIs recorded.
I have had to remove the full transcripts as they had begun to appear - unatributed
- on other web sites. Anyone wanting a full transcription has only to email
me.
